Snowboarding is one of our favorite activities. The problem with it, however, is that unless you live in the great white north, the sport is relegated to the winter months. And there’s really not much out there that simulates it in any real way. Even skateboarding and surfing, though fellow board sports, operate entirely differently. That’s what makes us so excited about the Onewheel+ – it looks to be the closest thing to year-round snowboarding ever envisioned.
Sculptor Xavier Puente Vilardell (previously) carves blocks of pine wood into twisted screws and ribbons, redefining the solid material into one that appears both light and pliable. Some of the final works are varnished with a deep, glossy coat, while others are left to look more natural. Despite this differentiation in finish, all of Vilardell’s works showcase the natural grain of the original blocks of wood, at once expressing their similarity and originality.
Before we had the ATV, we had the ATC. Not familiar? If you were around in the 1970s and 80s you would be. They were practically everywhere, but disappeared after 1987 when manufacturers all decided they were too unsafe. Thankfully though, there are still some around like this 1984 Honda ATC70 now being put up for auction.
